3rd Trimester :) This is the BABY CENTER UPDATE!

How your baby's growing:

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

See what your baby looks like this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:

You're in the home stretch! The third and final trimester starts this week. If you're like most women, you'll gain about 11 pounds this trimester.

At this point, you'll likely visit your doctor or midwife every two weeks. Then, at 36 weeks, you'll switch to weekly visits. Depending on your risk factors, your practitioner may recommend repeating blood tests for HIV and syphilis now, as well as doing cultures for chlamydia and gonorrhea, to be certain of your status before delivery. Also, if your glucose screening test result was high and you haven't yet had follow-up testing, you'll soon be given the 3-hour glucose tolerance test. And if the blood work done at your first prenatal visit showed that you'reRh negative, you'll get an injection of Rh immunoglobulin to prevent your body from developing antibodies that could attack your baby's blood. (If your baby is Rh positive, you'll receive another shot of Rh immunoglobulin after you give birth.)

Around this time, some women feel an unpleasant "creepy-crawly" sensation in their lower legs and an irresistible urge to move them while trying to relax or sleep. If this sensation is at least temporarily relieved when you move, you may have what's known as restless legs syndrome (RLS). No one knows for sure what causes RLS, but it's relatively common among expectant mothers. Try stretching or massaging your legs, and cut down on caffeine, which can make the symptoms worse. Ask your caregiver if you should try iron supplements, which can sometimes relieve RLS.

Week 27.

This week Olivia graduates into a new growth chart. She is no longer measured head to butt, she is measured head to toe...she is or should be around 15inches long. And weighs a little over 2 pounds...
An interesting fact is that Olivia has more taste buds now than she will have at birth. Which means that not only is Olivia able to taste the difference in the amniotic fluid when I eat different foods, she might even react to it. For instance some babies respond to spicy foods by hiccuping or by kicking when the get that spicy "kick".

Today we went to Stephenville for a triple triple check on baby Olivia and she is for sure a girl we saw a 3D image of her. Also this week I worked out Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. I am still able to do the boot camps at 24 hour fitness, i just have to modify some of the moves. It feels so good, and hopefully it will help Olivia and I in the long run. I have also started to really get uncomfortable during the night, not able to get in a good position. My hands go numb and my legs cramp and of course only during the night, when i am trying to sleep. Supposedly the insomnia is a gift from GOD trying to train me for the inevitable no sleep when she comes :) But it does need to be watched because you can develop carpel tunnel syndrome. This happens because all the additional blood pushes through my veins and puts pressure on my nerves....crazy huh!
The leg cramps come from all the additional blood in my body approximately 4-5 pounds today over the total pregnancy, they aren't real sure what causes this, but working out and staying active helps :)

I now have about 12 weeks left in the pregnancy and baby Liv still has about 4-6 pounds to gain and I am married to Chase and we know I probably wont just carry a 6-8 pound baby its more like Liv has around 6-8 pounds to gain :)

love you guuuys :)

Olivia 26 weeks

Since I don't know what exactly is going on in my pregnancy...here is some information that i found on a website that i go to regularly.....

How Big is the Baby at 26 Weeks Pregnant Olivia has put on quite a bit of weight by week 26 and is now a whopping 1.7 pounds. Her total length is about 14 inches. She is now starting to add a little fat to her bones, though she won't start accumulating too much fat until the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Olivia’s Growth and Development
Olivia’s heart continues to grow and develop at 26 weeks. I may even be able to hear your baby's heart beat through a traditional stethoscope placed on your stomach.

In addition to organ maturation the nerve pathways in your baby's ears continue to develop and this will allow your baby to respond to sounds more consistently. You might notice your baby jumping more often now to loud noises. This is a good time to start playing some relaxing music to your little one. Some parents even enjoy reading to their babies during this time.

My Growth and Development
Your uterus should now be about 2 and a half inches above your belly button. Your uterus will continue growing at a rate of about 1 centimeter each week as you continue your pregnancy. You have probably put on some weight at this point in time, up to 23 pounds for some women. Your weight may fluctuate from day to day due to water retention so try not to weight yourself every day, as this could prove discouraging during your pregnancy.

Changes in Me

You are probably starting to experience more discomfort including pressure and back pain as your belly continues to grow larger.

Leg cramps are also common. Be sure to stretch out your legs as much as possible and eat a nutritious diet to ensure your body is receiving the nutrients it needs to keep up with your baby's development. Stretching is particularly important if you plan on doing any type of exercise. Remember that your added girth and the changes in hormones will change the way your body responds to exercise. You want to make sure you do not injure yourself. One way to prevent this is through routine stretching.

Some women might start complaining of pain or discomfort around their ribs or in their lower abdomen. Your little one is getting stronger, and her strength combined with the growing size of your uterus, which is pressing against your organs may cause you to have some discomfort. It isn't uncommon to feel a sharp or stabbing pain or pressure under your ribs as the baby moves. It may help to switch positions or lie down when you feel this pain or discomfort.

Where does it all go???

If you were to gain 30 pounds during pregnancy this is where it would all go:

Baby: 7.5 lbs.....i pray for this but i am having Chases baby too....
Placenta: 1.5 lbs
Uterus: 2.0lbs
Amniotic Fluid: 2lbs
Breast: 1.0lbs
Blood Volume: 4-5lbs
Fat: 5lbs
Tissue Fluid: 6lbs

Total: about 30 lbs

I have 101 days or 14 weeks left, and are 63.9% of the way there.

Morning!

Well today I am noticing some physically restraining things that I have. For instance. I officially cannot sleep on my stomach, Olivia doesn't like it and will let me know in the middle of the night! For the past 4 nights I have had to get up and use the restroom, and yesterday whenever I was at the hospital I sat down on the floor, and I had to turn to sit on my right thigh, get my self on my knees and push myself up...... REALLY, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but some real easy daily living things are beginning to really restrain me from the norm.

The restroom ordeal, I thought that I figured it out.... I didn't drink any significant amounts of water/juice after 7pm. Well that has gone to prove me wrong, if I have a sip to drink.....she sits right on my bladder and dances! She squeezes it all out of me.

I have a few friends that are preggo at the same time as me and I am feeling a little overwhelmed that I don't have my baby room ready. We sold our house and had to be out by April 7Th and cannot move in until May 1st....ahhhhh. So I feel like I am little behind on getting it ready, but I keep telling myself that she won't really be in her room for a few weeks anyhow....RIGHT?!--

Olivia, also from the last few days has shown her full potential of becoming the next Shawn Johnson...she is all over the place...its so cool and very comforting to know she is in there!! :)

anyhow..I look forward to talking to you ALL(for you cali folks) later!

25 weeks.

Well I am not really sure how all this works but I took some always need advice from my "elders" lol, just kidding.
My Aunt Shereen and Uncle Steve suggested that getting everyone in our family's email address and update them on how the baby is growing and how Chase and I are doing.
So I ran this by my friend Lizzie and she suggested a blog. I hope everyone enjoys this and i hope to be able to give daily updates from my phone also....so I will keep up! it says you guys can comment on it too, which would be really cool to keep in touch....

This is what babycenter says
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

I hope to talk to you guys soon....

Love
Amber Patterson --and baby!
